Vibrancy of a colour

The poet describes the colour of Red in various striking ways. It allows the readers the see the liveliness of the colour and its roles in everyday life.

2. Life

The poet celebrates life by pointing out the emotions (embarrassed, angry, love) red can represent. The poet also points out the difference things that appear around us that can be related to the colour red (sunset, sunburn, rose, blood, brick, fire cracker, fire engine, lipstick, etc)

Moral Values:

We should stay positive in life

We should accept that some things in life are positive while some are negative.

We should minimise negative emotions in life.

We should enjoy life as it is colourful.

Bravery

The child’s father is brave. For example, he is not afraid of the dark and day, skeletons, ghosts, vampires, wolf-man or frankenstein.

2. Love

The child is close with his/her father. He/She gets to observe his/her father and learn about all the things that he is not afraid of as well as the thing that he is afraid of (spider)

3. Respect

The child still shows respect to his/her father even after knowing that his/her father cannot get rid of a spider.

Moral values:

We should be brave in any situations.

We should love our family members.

We should be respectful to our parents even though we know they are not perfect.

We should show good example to our children.

Red is a sunset

Blazing and bright

Red is feeling brave

With all your might.

Red is a sunburn

Spot on your nose.

Sometimes red

Is a red red rose

Red squiggles out

When you cut your hand.

Red is a brick

And the sound of a band.

Red is hotness

You get inside

When you’re embarrassed

And want to hide.

Fire-cracker, fire-engine

Fire-flicker red-

And when you’re angry

Red runs through your head.

Red is an Indian,

A Valentine heart.

The trimmings on

A circus cart.

Red is a lipstick

Red is a shout

Red is a signal

That says: “Watch out!”

Red is a great big

Rubber ball.

Red is the giantest

Colour of all.

Red is a show-off,

No doubt about it –

But can you imagine

Living without it
